i usually read a lot about it, from different places of course. Unil I understand it. I just find it better to get different perspectives on it till one fits in right with me. Usually books and wikipedia and other websites.

It's easiest if I can add it to something I already know--as being similar to, not like something, in addition to--but not as a completely separate body of information. And, virtually everything you learn is that way--at least, after you reach your first birthday.

For me personally it is very hard to memorize. What I usually do is write out what I have to memorize over and over, and then when I get bored with that read it over and over and over, and then try to say it without looking at the paper. This usually works for me it just takes a while sometimes.
