Where did London begin? The earliest reliable history of London dates back to Roman times when it was called Londinium and was centred around where Lambeth Palace now is.

As with many of today's cities it expanded outwards in all directions and over the centuries swallowed up many of the neighbouring towns and villages.

There's no 'end' to London as such, there are political boundaries but these effectively nothing more than arbitary lines drawn on a map. Parts of the metropolis of London extend beyond the political boundary and into neighbouring counties including Essex and Kent.
