The mother cat is probably the one that will try to kill her cats but even this is unlikely. I think it is best for the kittens to have a male in their life.

It's going to vary. My cat of 18 years was fixed and got shot at because he was trying to "kill the kittens." He had been fixed for years. Who knows, I was just walking by when I saw my cat running and some guy with a gun. If you're going to let them interact, you need to supervise in a way that the male doesn't know you're there. So you're going to have to be really quiet and extra sneaky. Take everything he does into consideration. If he smells/licks/lays by them, these are great signs, but if he looks like he's hunting, well, you have a problem. If this is the case, you can still get them to hang out together, over time. Time as in many months or even pushing a year. Don't get too confortable too quick. Cats are sly little creatures.

As long as he is interacting in a friendly way, no problem. Just supervise it for now. For whatever reason, male cats actually seem to get along better with kittens than adult females that are not their mother.

Keep an eye on them.Tom cats will kill new born kittens but I don't know that a fixed male will.

Yes it should be ok but keep an eye on him. Are he and the Mom close? If not you could have issues but otherwise it should be fine.
