I have been dating this guy for about six months, he is mormon and I am Luthern. He is constantly talking about meeting up with the elders and always reads scriptures from his bible and explains his religion frequently. I bluntly asked him if he is trying to convert me and he said no. I really like him but I keep on doubting this relationship because of this issue, I am afraid if I don't convert within a few months down the road he will dump me and I don't want to take that chance of getting hurt, but he is a really nice guy and If I don't take that chance I might regret it later. Should I just tell him lets just be friends right now or continue dating him? I am not exactly sure what to do. Anyone have any suggestions?

It appears his faith is of great value to him and he cares enough about you to share with you some understanding of it.

Meet with the elders he talks about. They teach a series of lessons about the Gospel. The worst that can happen is you learn a little about what he cares so much about.

Have the courage to be open and honest about your feelings, both to yourself and to him. Sometimes honesty can bring some pain, but it's a much happier way to live in the long term.

You say that he says he's not trying to convert you, and that is true. No one can convert youexcept the Holy Ghost.

Just because you meet with the missionaries is in no way a committment to join the church. You can meet them in your own home, so that you control the whole situation. They will not stay longer than you want them to. They will not force you to do anything you do not want. The most they will ask is for you to read the Book of Mormon. You don't have to be afraid of anything.

Perhaps he just wants you to understand fully what he believes.

I dont know how old you are, However, Mormon's are very religious and if you want to be like him and his people and dont worry about the bible being quoted every 5 minutes, then thke that plunge and God Bless You! Religions can break up a home, so you will have to convert and be what he is 100%! If its not what you want, Just be friends and thank god you did!

Religion is definitely a touch subject for some people. I normally recommend that for people with strong religious beliefs find someone that shares in those beliefs. Especially if having someone with different beliefs causes any frustration in their lives.

If you need help with finding someone of common religious background, then definitely use the below website. I use it for all of my clients and know that you can search upon religious preference.
