Hospitals have different policies about visitors but if the mother of the patient requests that the hospital staff allow a friend of the family to stay, the hospital should be cooperative.

It depends on a lot of things. Is the patient concious? just make sure if they are in and out of conciousness that they are aware you are going to leave them with the friend of the family's (if they don't already know them). Also you need to find out if the hospital will allow your friend to stay there. Otherwise it should be okay.

Sure. You are no good to anyone if you are sleep deprived. If the patient is a child, they also provide beds that you can sleep in at the hospital. Even if the patient is NOT a child. Just ask.

It depends. Unless the patient is in ICU or another critical care unit of the hospital, this should not be a problem.

Depends on the rules set by the hospital. I don't see any problem with it but each hospital has specific rules concerning visitors.

Any reasonable hospital would have no problem with that, I have found it more or less depends on the individual nurse more than hospital policy. Good Luck

Only if the mother agrees to it. She does have the right to have hospital security called if she doesn't.
