Yes you can. However I don't know if you mean using different brands of color.
If you're using the same brand and color on the ends as you are on the roots then its fine. But if not I think you're going to have to pull it through to the ends after about 10 minutes on your roots.
If you are going to pull through and you have long hair get 2-3 boxes of hair color to be on the safe side. You can always return the unused boxes anyways.

Yes, Clairol makes the Root Touch-Ups that sells at most drug stores, costs about $6 per box. It comes with a nice little brush for application.

of course you can. i always do my roots at home. its very easy just pick the shade of your hair color , get the special brush needed to apply the dye to the roots and it would be much better if you ask somebody else to do it for you. like some of your girl friends!
just be careful if your hair is blonde and u trying to make your roots blonde, cuz they might turn orange if you dont wait enough time.

yes! its so great and easy. i forgot the brand that makes it, but its a white box. its called root touch up, maybe lorreal'. but you only color the roots of your hair for like 5-10 minutes then wash out. it works and its really easy.
