Like the others said above, some parts are. On the televison, most of those shots are taken from SOBO (South Bronx), and most parts of the South Bronx are considered to be "poor." The West Bronx (Riverdale) is more upper class. The North Bronx isn't ghetto. More middle class working people in nice neighborhoods.

There are parts of The Bronx that can be considered "ghetto" such as the South Bronx. However, there are parts of The Bronx that are working/middle class such as Castle Hill, Throgs Neck. And there is even ONE part of the Bronx that has mansions (Fieldston) and boast million dollar condos (Riverdale & Spuyten Duyvil).

From what I've heard and seen portrayed on television, I would say that it is ghetto, but I can't pass judgement. The part of Boston I live in is ghetto and it doesn't exactly have a national reputation.

Lets answer this again, parts of it are, parts of it arent. Keep in mind that the bronx, by itself, is the size of most bigger cities in the rest of the country.
