Episcopal Priests Halt All Weddings

Priests at an Episcopal church in Massachusetts have vowed to stop performing all weddings. The priests at Grace Episcopal Church in Amherst said they would not marry anyone until they can also officially bless same sex unions. They are calling their decision a "holy fast." Other priests around the state are considering doing the same thing. Earlier this year, worldwide Anglican leaders gave U.S. Episcopalians until September 30 to state clearly that they will not authorize blessings of same sex unions.

I think they are a disgrace to Gods people.....they are not in line with what the Bible teaches and they are in clear rebellion against a Holy God.....they should be removed from the role of spiritual leader ....man does not have the right to say something is right when God so clearly states it is wrong.....

People with rank as teachers/leaders within their religion have a serious responsibility to be wiser, more compassionate and understanding, otherwise they fail the people in leading them. Most religions are SUPPOSED to be about altruism, to some degree.

Here's a little analogy... we're all like people climbing a mountain and enjoying it... we all like getting to the top, however it's not easy getting there. It takes skill, wisdom and weathering the challenges. Those who reach the top or get higher than all the others, we view as "teachers" so that they might tell US how they did it so we can too.

I'm the little shmuck who, while I haven't personally been ALL the way to the top, is poking at all you religious leaders saying... you're not at the top yet... there's way more to go, LOOK... and have some humility in that knowledge that you're not there yet. You have a responsibility in keeping the peace, teaching altruism (especially Christians whose leader, Jesus, never judged others based on ridiculous ideas).

These leaders (in your example) are doing exactly that. It's only compassion based on reality. They're not being "king of the mountain", though they've obviously climbed higher than the judgemental characters who loudly proclaim their beliefs while denying other sentient human beings their rights.

To see the arrogant fool at the 1st base camp of the mountain, loudly proclaiming their "knowledge and wisdom" while judging others for not having gotten as high as they have is SAD, especially considering they don't know the WHOLE MOUNTAIN YET. They're in for a HUGE fall back down the very mountain from which they came.

That's my opinion on the matter. My other proposition is: put yourself in the shoes of the person cringing in fear while being beat to a pulp just because someone else thinks you're "disgusting" or a "shame" and all you wanted in life is to be loved, cared for and about, etc.

What goes around comes around karmically, whether you believe it or not...

They are going against God's Word and they therefore could not be spiritual leaders in God's eyes.

I dont care. If thats what they believe in, then they have a right to fight for it just like anyone else has a right to fight for what they believe.

I'm just happy that theyre takin a peaceful way of fighting, instead of doing as the Muslim extremists do when something pisses them off.

Good for them!

They realize that the US government is making marriage into a sham by dictating to the churches who they can and cannot marry.

Marriage is not a government decision.

I think same sex marriage and abortion is more of a personal and political issue, and people who are more than indifferent to any of it are either: bigoted and closed minded, or very open minded and spiritual.

Did you miss this in the Bible?

(2Corinthians 11:13) For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.

(2Co 11:14) And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

(2Co 11:15) Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

Thanks, RR

I think it is great that they are willing to honor same sex marriages. Why should homosexuals be any different than heterosexuals with regards to relationships? Love is love...
