"What are you going to do with her furniture? Are you giving it away?" By one of the residents of the assisted living home where my aunt had lived, at the memorial service we held there for her after her death. I was appalled-- there were a whole bunch of residents who behaved like sneaky little vultures, trying to find out if there was any way they could go through my aunt's things and take stuff.

The manager told me to ignore them-- they did that any time anyone died. He also told me to be careful not to leave her apartment unlocked and with no one in it while we were clearing it up, even for a few minutes, or we'd have someone pilfering stuff. My god. There seems no end to the greed of people, even very elderly people. Sad.

I've never been asked a crazy question but at my grandmothers funeral her slightly eccentric neighbor ran into a family friend of ours in the restroom and said "hey hey you do you wanna see something?" and before our family friend could respond the neighbor had pulled up her dress to show off her new shamrock tattoo on her butt... that was some gossip for the rest of the day!! haha my g ma would have laughed

An aunt of mine went through my dad's personal belongings the DAY HE DIED, and was looking for $$ and asking if he left anything for her.

She refused to come the funeral burial.

do you want to walk with us behind the hearse.

this was while i was attending the funeral of my 16 year old son, with my side of the family, i didn't really get on well with my former partner.
my whole family had been excluded in the arrangements of the funeral, but as we knew she was hurting, we said nothing.what she never realized or refused to understand was, we were hurting also.

i walked with my family, and we've never crossed paths since, nor do I plan too.

My neice (who's 27) asked me if I was going to host the Christmas Cookie Party and when, at my dad's funeral. Wanted to slap her.

I once asked a stupid question out of nervousness.

A guy I went to highschool with (actually my prom date) was killed tragically in a car accident.

When I was at the wake I was shaking hands with all of the family and then I came accross his brother who I knew and hadn't seen in a long time and said "Hey how's it going"

But in a tone that was upbeat like I would if i ran in to him on the street.

He looked at me land was likely thinking how do you think I am doing moron.

I felt super dumb.

I remember at my grandmother`s funeral, I turned to my dad and said, " What`s Broomhilda doing here"? LOL, I was referring to my evil step mother. She only knew my dad for 3 months and she WAS WICKED. Unfortunately she married my dad..

At my grandmother's funeral, a eulogy was given by my high school principal, who knew my grandmother & family thru our church and school. I also played sports and went to school with his daughters.

When we walked past the casket, he looked square in my face and asked me:
"Did you ever meet her? Did you know her well?"

Umm, hey @$(#%#)^, she was my grandmother!
Some people....grr

Nobody asked me anything but I was told "Happy Birthday!" because it was my b-day. A rather strange way to spend one I must admit.
