So... I have been dealing with this for about a week now. *&* it's not all of my hair that is oily, it's just at the top of my scalp, where I part my hair at. I tried switching shampoos, by that did not help. I blowdry my hair just about everyday, but even after blowdrying, it still is oily, and looks horrible. HELP?

Have you tried Biolage Normalizer by Matrix? It's availble only through a salon; and what makes it different from other clarifying shampoos is that it works to normalize the pH balance in your scalp. I have an oil problem myself and I swear by the stuff!

For you, you would probably only have to use a little bit in your trouble spot. Give it about a month to six weeks for the shampoo to be effective. You will see a noticable difference in that your hair will have much less oil than before.
Hope this helps!

Cheers!! :)

Use tea tree oil. I would reccomend Paul mitchell tea tree shampoo. It cleans up oily hair very well and it leaves you with a tingly minty fresh feeling in your scalp. Some people leave it only a couple minutes to help it clean better and some just like the tingly feeling.

The ONLY con I have noticed is that b/c of the antiseptic properties of tea tree (think astringent for scalp) it can be drying so don't use it too much and dont' use it if you have colored hair.

Since you hair is oily you want to use it on your scalp ONLY. It should only touch the ends of your hair as you're rinsing it out. Then use a light moisturizing conditioner to restore ph blance in your hair.

If you do manipulate your scalp (massage) then you should stop b/c it will only make it oilier.

I gave you some links to reviews about the shampoo the source box. But this review in particular sounds like the same problem you have. .

A BONUS is that you can use it as a body wash (yes it specifically says that on the bottle). It feels just as good on your skin as it does on your scalp. So if you work out alot or just like that squeaky clean feeling on your skin it will do that.

1. You might have product build-up rather than oily hair. Try Neutrogena Anti-Residue Shampoo. It's the best clarifying shampoo.

2. Apply conditioner to the ends only and start from the back of your head.

3. Apply a mild toner like witch hazel w/ a cotton pad to the front section of your scalp after your hair has dried.

Ok from a hairdressers point of view, you maybe washing your hair wrong.Don't wash it daily every other will do.Use tepid water not warm, only massage shampoo in gently as vigorous shampooing brings oil to the scalp, don't use conditioner if you really have to only use on the ends.
When it comes to styling if your using products only apply to mid lengths and ends, have you tried Paul Mitchell Shampoo?? Give it a go.x x

Ok, I get oily hair there too, so this is what I do. Shower e-v-e-r-y day. If you have acne on your forehead or right where your hair starts, try different acne treatments (I use Murad, used to use Proactiv, but it dried my skin out too much, maybe it can help you). Don't use conditioner every day, or just use it in back, but that can really cause oily hair. Be sure to rinse your hair thoroughly. Trust me, these are simple solutions, and one of them is bound to work!

oh, and I use VO5 shampoo and conditioner. They have a lot of dif kinds, like for dry hair, frizzy hair, all kinds of stuff.

I'm about to go get a haircut in a few hours, so I suppose I could hurry up and tell you:

I use Suave Naturals shampoo and conditioner. Don't use Head And Shoulders, Main & Tail (yes, people really do use that. It helps hair grow but it makes it dry and nasty), Panteine ProV, or Vo5.

My hair is dandruff and oil free, and Suave is all I use. So, basically, all you have to do is go out and buy two small bottles of Suave Naturals: One shampoo and one conditioner. I use the scented kind.

Sorry that I'm not being too descriptive, I need to shower. I hope this helps!

while you're on your youth or youthful grownup years, it rather is an basic predicament. As you age your oil glands won't secrete as lots often. it rather is alright to bathe your hair well-known in case you employ a comfortable shampoo. It does no longer harm to seek for advice from a cosmetologist for advice, say the subsequent time you bypass in for a haircut/form. Hairdressers are nicely knowledgeable in this area.
