No they are not on the dangerous dog list.
Section 1 of the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 prohibits four types of dog:

* Pit Bull Terrier
* Japanese tosa
* Dogo Argentino
* Fila Brasileiro
It is an offence to own or keep any of the above types of dog, unless it is on the Index of Exempted Dogs and is in compliance with the requirements. In any event it is an offence to breed from, sell or exchange (even as a gift) such a dog, irrespective of whether it has been placed on the Index of Exempted Dogs.
Staffy's and English Bullies are wonderful dogs but they do need strong (in power and in will) owners. Be determined and you will reap the rewards with a nice natured, loyal friend. Our English Bull Terrier brings lots of happiness to many peoples lives. Including my husband who used to be scared of dogs until he met this one now they play all the time!

Banning something has shown to create a profitable black marketplace in the article (or animal)... and to make distinctive shady characters distinctive illicit money. you have in elementary terms to look on the U. S.'s Prohibition in the 1920's which went a lengthy thank you to creating the mob or the "conflict on drugs" that have created a stunning drug cartel in distinctive international locations to the south of the U. S.. Ban specific breeds in the U. S. or ban breeding - and the fee is going up, canines get much less scientific care (for concern of a vet turning the owner of the unlawful dogs/doggies in) and that i will wager doggies would be blanketed with drug shipments. i do no longer think our cultures are so distinctive that the united kingdom does no longer have the comparable themes.

No they are not - the dogs that are in the act include the pitbull (can be known as the american staff), dogo argentino, fila brasilero and japanese tosa.

Staffordshire bull terriers vary depending on what their breeding history is - so if you are unsure of whether a staff is actually a staff, and not a staff cross - this can sometimes be classed as a pitbull, get your vet to check him and get his opinion

I assume you mean Staffordshire Bull Terrier?

No,American Pit Bull Terriers are but they are a different breed although there is a strong resemblance.

Staffies are great dogs and superb family pets.

No, because a Staffordshire Terrier is basically a "pit bull" that has the "mean" bred out of them. They are protective, but not as likely to snap like a pit bull. We have a female that we breed and she is a doll. Our 19 month old runs all over her, and she could care less. But I guarantee that if someone ever tried to hurt our daughter, she would prevent it!
