It sounds like you might want to try a new physician. One that is more in tune with his/her patients and not just running from exam room to exam room. In this day and age you have to ask a lot of questions and do your research. I've dealt with asthma/allergies/sinus problems all my life and it's very easy to confuse the symptoms. If you know you are dealing with allergies find an allergist. I'm not sure this is the answer you are looking for but I hope it helps.

You should report him to the medical board, sounds like you might want to get a lawsuit against him for medical malpractice too, this is the common option to prescribe drugs at the drop of the hat and these drugs can make you worse or even get one hooked on them. What is sad Mary is you are an adult and so you had a choice to stop it, sometimes parents are taken to courts and have their children taken away from them just because they won't do what these doctors say. That is really wrong and terrible too and when it happens this way the parents are said to be incompetent people with a mental illness that they don't understand, that is wrong.

I would definitly get a different doctor. That doctor sounds like he does not know what medications are used for allergies and asthma. Advair is only approved for asthma use. Other medications like Singulair and Accolate are used for both. He should have given you something like Zyrtec, Claritin or Allegra for your allergies. Go to a different doctor and get a second and maybe a third opinion.

It is always wise to get a 2nd opinion if you do not have 100% faith in your doctor. I would stop going to him completely since you feel he completely misdiagnosed you.
I don't get why he was mad you wouldn't take it. I'd understand if you truly needed it, which I guess IS what he thought. He doesn't seem like he knows what he's doing though. You need someone who is more cautious, experienced and who you feel very comfortable with and trust.

There isn't enough info here to give you an opinion. But, Inhalers ARE prescribed for conditions OTHER than asthma. The inhalers are to open swollen bronchial tubes. NOT just for asthma. If you had a bad reaction, you are supposed to tell your doctor. NOT just stop it. How are the drug companies supposed to know if people are having bad reactions if you don't report it?

This doctor should not be practicing. Report him to his superiors and to assorted medical boards. And while I normally wouldn't suggest this- hit him with a malpractice suit!

Doctors make errors. They are very reluctant to admit it, since they can be sued over these things. I am glad you are feeling better.
