My vet says £50 + £20 coz she's on heat, but this month has been very expensive and I simply cant afford it.
I'm not on benefits so don't qualify for it free or reduced, but just wondering how much everyone else paid, or if they knew where I could get it done cheaper than £50.
Many thanks.

Thanks, I asked my local vet, if I could pay at the end of the month and they basically said no, but I think she may be off heat now....its only been a week but she's stopped miaowwing so much and doesnt rub her head around my ankles now. Ill call them in a bit actually maybe they'll accept, half now, half at the end of the month.
Cheers.

Ok, great news, just called my vet again, got a different receptionist and she said that should be ok, but I need to call the vet later.

They have a space 2mro too, so fingers crossed.
Thanks all

Can you work with the vet on a payment plan so you can pay a little each payday?

Ring around different vets or drop in and see them and ask what they charge.

I'm sorry I can't be of more help, i'm not in the UK.

I just hope that you have managed to sort out the payment for your cat....when I was younger I have been in the same situation!
One thing you could do if you can't afford it is to buy a packet of contraceptive pills for cats form the vets. They are not expensive and you do not have to give them every day! Cat breeders use them. You could just use them for now and save a few ponds a month until you can afford the op!
You are very responsible to ask the question because so many people let their cats have kits and then it costs even more and often brings unwanted babies into the world.

Do you have a cat protection society of RSPCA or some organisation? That would be my first call. Explain that financially you are having a hard time but trying to do the responsible thing and they may be able to either help you with the costs or suggest some vet service who can help you. Alternatively is it possible for you to keep your little girl locked in the bathroom or something for a few days to get her off heat and then the twenty pound fee will not apply?

Good luck.

The Celia Hammond Animal Trust charge £20 + VAT to spay a female cat. They have clinics in Canning Town and Lewisham. See the link below for further info and their price list for other services such as vaccinations

Good luck.

I got my cats spayed last month in Celia Hammond in East London. It cost £20 plus VAT. My little girls have recovered well.

Also, if anyone goes there, Celia Hammond are after blankets (not duvets or pillows) as they are running out so please donate. I wont bother putting the web address on as someone has already done it above.

Good luck finding a good place.

£20 extra for being in season is a bit weird, it doesn't make much difference in cats. Try the Cats Protection League, they're very helpful and you don't have to be on benefits for them to help you.
