I agree. Religious tolerance is essential.

perhaps not new rules but true practice of existing rules the key. Think "Judge Not", "Love your enemy" and "Show the other cheek".
Non practice of these words actually make the churches instruments in the hands of Satan. How could Jesus, the Divine incarnate of Love even could have hated the so called number one enemy of Lord Satan.
How can a child of love and innocence judge even good and bad, for him, he is ignorant of bad.
Perhaps ignoring all bad, he only sees good and divine in everything and everywhere.
What could be the reason Lord Jesus travelled on an *** ? Perhaps ignorance of Evil, the innocence of a child the way to bliss. May be churches should start practicing what Bible and Jesus taught in thought, word and deed. A christian by becoming a True Christian, not a peripheral or ephimeral Chritian as most of the churches want now for wielding power for, but a Real One, the True Christian.

For those that look into churches, yes. I can tell you that I attended one church service (won't name the denomination, since I know they aren't ALL like that,) where the preacher started the sermon off with a few jokes about Catholics and Mormons and then proceeded to tell us how everyone else was headed to hell. During that whole hour, I only heard Jesus and God mentioned in reference to how much they hated the sinners.

Teaching of the church to which I belong:
I: I acknowledge the presence of other faiths on my planet, indeed, right here in my city/town/village. I acknowledge that the followers of these faiths feel as strongly, maybe more so, than I do about mine.
II: I forgive the other faiths and wipe clean the slate between us. I cannot hold a person responsible for the acts of their faith, I cannot hold a faith at fault for individual practitioners. It is not my place to convert, or otherwise alter a person's religion. I invite discussion of beliefs without judgment of those holding them.
III: I acknowledge that I may be wrong, and I have found comfort in the fact that I may be right.

relies upon on the way you define admire. The Catholic Church respects different religions, and could openly talk transformations in the attempt to transform, and has a diverse view of what God says is optimal and incorrect. It does no longer condemn others and does no longer have faith in forcing others to stay with their decrees. Islam on the different hand is exhibiting further and extra warning signs of desirous to impose their theory on the rest people.

What you look for in a Church is a true "Bible" teaching church that is not afraid to teach God's word. A Church who has a pastor that puts God's will above political correctness.
There is no human being that has a heaven or hell to put you in.
Mat 5:11 Blessed are ye, when [men] shall revile you, and persecute [you], and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
"If you don't stand for something -- you will fall for anything."

Actually finding a religion that suits your personal doctrine on what your own faith is and in what you believe to be true, is what you should look for. Bigotry and hate exist in all places, it is up to you and your ideals what you do with it. God bless you always.

Depends on how you define the word "respect".
If by "respect" you mean we should obey their religious practices, then absolutely no.
If by "respect" you mean we should try to understand their values while still maintaining our own values, absolutely yes.
If by "respect" you mean we should never show them our values and accept their values, absolutely no.
People tend to have their own opinions of "respect" and "decency".
Some people think that what Jesus commanded His disciples to preach is considered today as "hate" because it condemn the way they live.

If your church is bad-mouthing another religion or another church, then they're not performing the service they were intended for.
Whether or not a church is respectful or hateful shouldn't come up. Church should focus on God/Jesus/Allah/Buddha. Not other churches.

the bible tells me not to pray to false idols and Gods. It also tells me there is one God and that he sent his Son to die for my sins. Does that mean I hate all the other religions, no. I think several people on this forum confuse disagreement with hate and bigotry.

No.
Respect and love for all people should be a requirement, but respect for some program invented by satan to draw people away from God and send them to hell by no means deserves respect.
