is it possible instead of getting the bar piercing at once. just get the two spots pierced and let them heal and then later on put the bar through?

i mean i don't want to get the barabell in at one time just because i don't want to take a risk. i wouldn't take it out i would wait for the holes to heal and then i would put the bar in.

You are referring to an "industrial" or a "scaffold" (britain) piercing - the long barbell through the upper cartiledge of your ear I presume?

If so, the short answer is yes - you can do it without the bar, intially. Usually, the jewelry used in place of the traditional method is a pair of captive bead rings or a couple of very short barbells. It's very tricky, though, because the piercings are done separately, at their own angles... over time, as piercings heal, they often move around slightly - the holes might not be angled properly after. If they are not in line, the later insertion of the barbell will be pinchy and irritating as it pushes on your cartiledge.

It is possible, and often, people where cbr's when they bore of the barbell.

Do some research on www.bmezine.com and see what you think. Look under "ear piercing" -> industrials and cartiledge piercings.

Good luck -

You have to leave jewelry in while the piercings heals or else you won't have a piercing anymore.

For a second I thought you may have been talking about an industrial piercing, but the question is somewhat unclear to me, no offense.

Yes, but depending on how experienced your piercer is, the holes will not line up correctly.

And Just FYI, it is a barbell, when I read your question, I thought you were getting a piercing in a tavern...lol

No, the bar has to be in the skin to prevent the hole from closing.

its kind of like gauging your ears. the bar has to be in your ear ... so it doesn't close. if you pierce them and then take it out, it will start closing and you will have to shove the bar in. not a good idea. =/
