I found a kitten and it was very small. It looks like it is greasy all the time. It is a very red tiger striped cat. Sometimes the color will give it that type of appearance but I never see him just groom himself very often. Is it natural instinct for a cat to groom itself or was it too little when I found it and the mother never taught it to do so.

Our female cat was never much af a cleaner she had very oily skin too. I would put corn starch on the brush when i brushed her and it helped alot.

My female never used to clean herself. When she was an only cat I had to take a wet face cloth and rub where she was greasy. Now she will clean herself somewhat but she prefers to have my male clean her and she'll do him. They're almost eight years old. If he never catches onto the self bathing thing, consider getting another cat if you're up for it. They have no qualms about telling each other they stink.

Cats are suppose to groom themselves and that's their instinct. If he looks greasy he may be sick. I would take him to the vet.

Maybe he did get separated from his mother. If you do clean him, I'd suggest taking him to the vet to have it done; 99% of cats freak out in the water.

He'a not fixed, right? Get em chopped! Before my boy got neutered, he barely ever licked a paw. After being fixed, he strarted cleaning himself 10 hours a day.

You need to take your kitten to the vet. Cats don't normally have oily fur...it may be ill.
