I am a PA and specialize in Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine. Have you had a diagnostic Sleep Study? U should have this done if u have not. This will yield vital information to direct a good treatment for the problem. The potential medical problems that can happen from sleep apnea usually dont happen until the problem is untreated for a lengthy period of time. It would be extremely rare for u to die in your sleep from the problem. However, without knowing how severe your problem is it is difficult to steer u in the right direction. If your sleep apnea is not too severe, u might try sleeping in some different positions (ie on your belly or in a recliner as this may procect your airway from collapsing as much) until you can have the problem correctly treated. Nevertheless, it should eventually be correctly treated or you are at risk for very bad problems to occur down the road. The other solution is sometimes drastic weight loss. If you are morbidly obese, sometimes losing a significant amount of weight can significantly help or even cure sleep apnea. it doesnt work in every case, but most.
I would also like to add that Ive read some of the responses to your question. We are not talking about snooring. we are talking about Sleep Apnea. U cannot wear "breathe right strips" or a "wedge pillow" to get rid of this problem. People without a medical background should not be answering medical questions. If you have medical insurance most if not all of the costs for treatment can be covered.

Generally sleep apnea happens to people who are overweight. If this is the problem then the best and cheapest solution for you is to get in shape.

Have you tried googling it... the only treatment I have ever seen for it is a sleeping mask that pumps regulated oxygen into your air way. But I don't know much about it. Honestly you might just have to bite the bullet and get the proper treatment.

Ok if your from the uk then here goes.

My dad has this condition, all he had to really do is sleep over at a clinic so they could monitor him for the night. As they discovered he had this condition they gave him a free machine!

He sleeps really well now. Go to your gp and tell him many times or he wont do anything about it.

Good luck

Breathe-rite strips. And try sleeping a little bit more propped up.

Good luck.

well what i suggest you do is get some nasal things to go over your nose to open you air way and when you go to the doctor they will give you a breathing mask and it will help.
