If all that is found on this subject is considered, why are people reluctant to allow that Jesus survived the cross and lived to be about 52 years of age?

I must state that I am in agreement with you, to a certain extent.

There is too much information, some found right inside the Bible, that Jesus most likely didnt die on the cross, but that the crucifixion was staged. Firstly, the Bible stories cannot even agree on the location of the crucifixion or the burial site. Secondly, Joseph is described carrying herbs traditionally associated with healing into the tomb - not embalming herbs, as would be typical. Thirdly, when Jesus is given a sponge soaked in vinegar, he happens to have the exact oppostite reaction that every other living person in the world has ever had - rather than wake him up and reinvigorate him so he could experience more pain (which was the purpose of giving him vinegar), Jesus instead looks to the sky and says "IT is done." and promptly "dies"... If you ask me, he was given belladonna, a known herb in that time, which was used to knock people unconcious and make them appear dead by virtue of a slowed heartbeat and swallow breathing...

Because all of the FRICKEN WITNESSESS SAID HE DID. Did you ever read the New Testament? The books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts and I'm sure other books in the bible ALL say how many multitudes of people, including the Disciples, ALL BORE WITNESS THAT JESUS DID IN FACT DIE ON THE CROSS AND THEN ROSE FROM THE DEAD THREE DAYS LATER. Multitudes of witnesses here. Just so that theres no confusion here. How much more proof do you FRICKEN NEED? Not to mention the disciple known as the "DOUBTING THOMAS" who also didn't believe Jesus had died until he PUT HIS HAND INSIDE JESUS' WOUND ON HIS SIDE!!!!!!!! Thomas then could NOT DOUBT that Jesus DID DIE ON THE CROSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This too is in the same books of the bible.

Everyone knows that Jesus died on Golgotha. The bible says that and there is no contradiction of it whatsoever.

The Romans actually crucified people by putting nails through their wrists between the veins, not in their hands. If the nails were pierced through the hands then the body couldn't support the weight and the hands would tear and fall. Next the Romans nailed each foot into a wooden foot stand (attached to the cross) for the purpose of prolonging the torture. The foot stand was in no way a relief. The stand kept them alive longer so they would suffer more. Finally the Romans used a large heavy mallet to break the legs of the victim.

When the Romans went to break Jesus' legs they saw that He was already dead. After He died (ON THE CROSS) the Romans found it unnecessary to break the legs of a dead man.

Some people have more of a scientifically oriented mind than a spirtually oriented one. The Bilble was translated from a gathering of many writings, in the very, very ancient past.
It's been translated and reworded so many times that I don't see how modern day people can believe every word is the truth. I neither deny or accept the writings. It's hard to put blind faith in dogma that was created way before any of us on earth today were living.

Jesus HAD to die on that cross because that was his DESTINY!

I don’t think history has ever recorded a single account of someone surviving a crucifixion. They were specifically designed to kill, just like a hanging or the electric chair.

because it is absolutely illogical.

here's why:
1. he had been given a Roman scourging. this involved being whipped with nine pieced of leather that had glass on the ends. forty lashes was the maximum punishment, and that's what he got. most people died from that alone.

2. he had nails put into several major arteries. this would have caused him to bleed to death anyway, because medical technology was nonexistent.

3. to make sure that he was really dead, a roman soldier (who was trained to know where to put it) stuck a spear in his side. this would have been enough to kill him.

4. the cross was their death penalty. do you think that the Romans would give someone a death sencence and allow them to survive it?? that is absolutely absurd. let's put this in modern terms. a criminal gets the death sentence. he goes to be executed, but the drugs have no effect (let's just say for argument's sake) would they say, "oh gee, too bad, I guess you can go home now."

NO! they would give him another shot.

the word duh would be particularly apt at this moment. email me if you have questions.

Jesus never died on the cross...In the Quran it tells of how a man SIMILAR looking was put up instead of him....
I hope all this evidence they are finding turns out to be true! It will only support the Quran!
It makes perfect sense...The bible was made at that time to ease everyones minds so it was told of how Jesus died...They couldn't let anyone know he was still alive...By the time the Quran came it was ok to tell of what really happened to him as he was already dead by this time and no one really would want to kill him even if he was alive....

Because of the eyewitness accounts that dispute your claims.

"For I passed on to you the most important points of what I received: Christ died for our sins in keeping with the Scriptures, he was buried, he was raised on the third day in keeping with the Scriptures-and is still alive!- and he was seen by Cephas, and then by the twelve. After that, he was seen by more than 500 brothers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have died. Next he was seen by James, then by all the apostles, and finally he was seen by me, as though I were born abnormally late." (I Corinthians 15:3-8)

Simon Greenleaf was a founder of the Harvard Law School, and wanted to prove that the accounts of Jesus Christ were false. After much research, he determined that the evidence contained in the New Testament accounts could stand scrutiny in a court of law.

So, who would you believe? Over 500 people who could verify what occurred, or conjecture and speculation that happened later, trying to dispute the accounts?

Do you know what they do to people when the crucify them. I don't no the exactness (well I might) but they make you drag the cross until you reach the place(Jesus' case skull hill or what ever it was called/translated) then they nail you to it they nail your wrists(heard it somewhere) or hands and your feet and leave you to die. Most likely he died from blood loss.

Where are you getting this info. Even if you don't believe the Bible, you think that Jesus was taken down and just bandaged up...that is a big wound....
