Yeah, it's weird, I know. However, if I drink A) a small amount of something acidic (coke, pickle juice, etc.) or B) drink lots of water it's perfectly fine.

Been like this for a long time and...well...I love milk.

That's what I thought. Is there any...hmm...long term damage that could happen if I keep drinking? I know how to counteract any pain by preventing it (by drinking water).

Oh, and I've tried soy milk. It's vomit-inducing, but I love soy products. Go figure.

Did I mention that unless I have to (as in causes long-term damage) I won't give up milk? I've spent my life compensating for it :D. And I drink fat-free organic.

Looks like you need to lay off the milk. Humans are the only adult mammals who drink milk, so you won't lose out nutritionally.

First I have to comment that MILK ALLERGY and LACTOSE INTOLERANCE are not the same thing!!! A allergy is caused by an immune response to something it sees as being foreign and/or harmful (in this case milk) and CAN be FATAL! Lactose intolerance is the lack of the enzyme that breaks down the milk sugar, while it can give some pretty painful symptoms Lactose intolerance is rarely fatal and mainly causes gastric/bowel symptoms.

A question do these symptoms happen when you consume other dairy products (ie ice cream, cheese...) or only when drinking milk?

Either way I would advise you to see a doctor about your symptoms and explain them, it might be a milk allergy or it maybe something completely unrelated. If you can't or don't want to do this, try one week of dairy-free eating/drinking. If you feel better then you know that the dairy is the problem. If your symptoms persist you know it's something else.

Fortunately there are alot of great alternatives to milk & dairy on the market now. Rice milk, almond milk - and every brand of soy milk is different, so no fair stopping at one.
Perhaps it would help you to know that there are more evils to milk than you thought. Did you know it has been proven to be the #1 cause of type 1 diabetes? It has also been strongly linked to breast cancer, prostate cancer, colon cancer, heart disease and macular degeneration?
Want proof? An amazing book on this was written not long ago by T. Colin Campbell called The China Study.
Perhaps this is a blessing in disguise?

This happened to me a while ago and i hate milk now before i didnt mind it but now i really hate it. I went to see the doctor since i had the same symptoms u have, he told me im lactose intolerant and i should switch to rice milk or soy milk, soy milk is even more healthy and has more benefits for you.
if you like milk i think eventually ur going to hate it.

I should think that type of reaction is a warning. At best, I should think it will knock a few years off your life. At worst, it will make you more susceptible to other maladies. Do you really think milk is worth it? BTW, there are various soymilks and the tastes are different. Although I shall certainly confess, they are not like milk from the cow. Nevertheless, the fortified onces certainly provide good nutrition.

Sounds like you're having a problem with the basic quality or milk. Acids and bases neutralize each other, and the water is thinning it out. If those two methods work for you, keep it up. Otherwise, talk to your doctor or a nutritionist. They may have ideas.

You could be having an allergic reaction to milk. I don't think I have ever heard of a lactose intolerant person suffering head or throat pain. Usually those who are lactose intolerant suffer from an upset stomach, or really runny bowels.

lactose intolerance that sounds like. shame, since you enjoy milk!

im not sure theres a way to stop the reaction, if you have an allergy theres something in your body that rejects the ingredient so you may have to switch to soy milk or something that didnt come from a cow!

You are most likely lactose intolerant. As an alternative to regular milk, try soymilk. It tastes very similar and it may not hurt your throat.
