Something with a red-toned base would be beautiful against yellow...such as butterscotch, cherry, mahogany, etc. Stay away from blue-toned bases like walnut or pecan.

I have a very bright, cheerful yellow in my kitchen and sunroom and I have several shades of wood in those rooms. I have a dark dining set that its the color of dark chocolate. I also have a curio that is a red mahogony color. In the sunroom I have a dark redwood color and a darkish maple color. The maple has a lot of red/orange in it. I think the other suggestions of staying away from a yellow hued stain are probably pretty right on.

Cherry or walnut. Something darker to contrast. Don't go with oak or anything with a golden base, it will make it look like a 70s harvest gold decor.

I would use the maple MinWax stain cause there are yellow tones in that color.
