Pneumonia is not a chronic problem. So they probably will not ever deem it chronic. Espcecially with all the recruiting shortages, they will keep him till he gets better. When I was in bootcamp we had guys that jumped into our platoon after being on Medical hold for 6 months. They were in Boot Camp for 9 months. I wouldnt count on him coming home any time soon.

First of all they will never send him to a civilian facility! military has better doctors! second he can be sent home, due to the fact that pnuemonia scars the lungs and if after he kicks it they will give him a lung capacity test to see how hard it is for him to breath and if he cant pass the test he will become a medical discharge. i have seen it before.

They aren't going to send him home. He will stay in MRP until he gets better, then he will continue training.
My boyfriend was in MRP with pneumonia for 2 weeks, now he is back in training. I think they all get sick in boot camp. LOL. Best of luck to you.
21 days til he graduates. WOOHOO

They probably never will. The next step will be to send him to a civilian facility to get him well, once he is well he will start or restart boot camp. I know people that were hurt or sick in boot camp and stayed at boot camp for up to 8 months before restarting boot camp. He enlisted and he doesn't have cancer or anything so they will fix him and keep him.

They can keep setting him back for up to 9 months. The only way they'll kick him out is if he has, for instance, asthma. People get sick in boot camp all the time; it's just par for the course.

Tell your boyfried to tough it out. I had a similar problem during Army AIT and I got demoralized and let them send me home. Since the day I got back I have regretted it and tried to get back in. I swear to you that if he lets himself leave he wont be able to live with himself. Fight to stay.
