My younger sister is 15,ill mannered, and rude. I'm unable to find a way to communicate with her effectively. Is it just a phase? What is the best way to get a message across to her?

Start by doing not asking. Words are cheap, invite her to go to the movies with you or shopping or the beach, something she might enjoy doing. Once you start having a relationship with her and make her feel special and loved as a sibling, she will start to open up to you, with words.

Your trying the wrong approach confontal, when she has no reason to listen to you because she has no established relationship with you, other than older sibling who always has something judgmental to say.

Find out what she is interested in and get interested, too. I also have a 15 year old sister whom I love and adore. She too can be ill mannered and rude. It is most likely a phase, but if it isn't dealt with the right way, it can turn into a life style. She needs to have someone tell her that she is being rude, but only once. That's enough. Telling her that she is being rude won't stop it, but it may make her think. I've found that IMing or talking on Myspace is a good way to converse with my sister. Most importantly, let her know that you love her, want to be friends with her, won't judge her, and that you are always there for her. I hope this helps! Good luck!

Sit her down and tell her not to talk...that your going to talk. Ask her why shes acting the way she is. Tell her that you dont like it and neither does anyone else. Take her somewhere...just the two of you. Like a movie, out to eat, the mall, or something you both like to do. And just talk to her.

Is she interested in music? Talk to her about music or whatever she's interested in to at least open the lines of communication. That age is usually incorrigible so good luck.
