I have tried Nutri/System and I have worked for the company. It is expensive for the food and you do have to buy your own fruits and veggies. The food is not too bad and they have quite a variety. Some of the food are better than others of course, but for the most part it is okay, just pricey.

It seems like a gimmick to me. They want you to buy their food and the weight is supposed to magically come off. I saw one of those diet commercials the other day, the one that makes the person buy their food (I don't remember which company) and I thought, "What about after the program?" I looked on the site, and I couldn't find anything about nutrition information on the food. I couldn't tell from an infomercial I saw on it (not all of it, but it was during the night and I was flipping channels) and I couldn't really tell if the pasta and bread was white or whole wheat or even how small/large the portions are, etc.
I lost weight without trying after I became a vegetarian and more concerned and cautious about what I was and wasn't eating. I lost more weight once I cut out eggs and dairy. I would also walk and do yoga. Last summer, I ate incredibly healthy (most of what I ate was as close to what God made it as possible; That has not changed about me) and was thin. Very thin. I'm close to six feet tall and I didn't get over 155 last summer.
The commercial showed moms. I thought, "They buy the extra food in addtion to their family's groceries? What does the family eat that the mom considers not good enough, and if she does, why is she feeding it to her kids?"
Also, nothing is said about after the person quits the program and the portioned meals, etc. Are they still "successful"? Also, on the commercial they talked about how they seperate good carbs from bad and mentioned how it helps the body's glycemic index. Yeah. Anybody who is smart enough to do some research and do research on good carbs (fruits and veggies) and bad carbs (processed foods, like white rice, white bread, white pasta and potato chips). I just read an article on the glycemic index in the current issue of "Today's Diet and Nutrition."
I suppose you could try it, however, could also eat healthy (likely for much cheaper) by buying whole foods at the grocery store.
Just my thoughts.

Most of the food is gross I got some of it down by adding chile pepper powder, After about 3 weeks my body and my BM's smelled like plastic So bad it burned my eyes
I also had a lower back pain which seemed to stop after I stopped eating the food
my vote is no on this stuff
