I think that you will have trouble finding any hard science as to the ability of agnihotra to work. You will not find it endorsed by the FDA. A search of the medical literature for "agnihotra" failed to show any results.

I am not one to bash on all alternative means of healing. Sometimes the mind and spirit of the body can heal as well as any medicine. Just don't get your hopes up, and if it isn't working, please seek alternative treatment elsewhere. And by all means beware the snake-oil salesmen who charm you into thinking that their way is the "only way" and that you must "forsake all other treatment", many of them care less for you and more for your money.

I would suggest going to Alcoholics Anonymous or a substance abuse counselor as a good start. Your primary care physician should also become involved.

Unfortunately, the best "cure" today is abstinence. Support groups, such as AA can help. Since there are many facets to addiction; physiological, psychological and environmental to name a few, one method probably won't work. Support, medical intervention and staying out of areas which are conductive to drinking are some starters. Prevention seems to be the best cure.
