There is no such thing as a free kitten. If you get a kitten from someone for free, you still have to pay for neutering/spaying, shots, deworming, checkups, food, toys, litter, emergency vet trips etc.

It is actually cheaper to get a kitten/cat from an animal shelter as they are usually around $50 - $100 and come already fixed, with shots and dewormed. It usually includes one vet visit as well

Go to a shelter and save a kitten's life. They come desexed, wormed and vaccinated for a fraction of the real cost and often they have a settling in period where they will take the kitten back within two weeks if there is a problem. You will also get support and information from them.

Don't help people who are irresponsible or pig headed by taking kittens off their hands, they will just do it again and again and many of the kittens end up in shelters, unwanted.

Free kittens aren't always free, they more often than not come with health issues that can cost you a fortune in vet fees and a lot of stress and time running back and forth to vets.

Most shelters and responsible people will ask for an adoption fee. You can try Petfinder classifieds though.

Realize though that kittens are not really free. Vaccines and neutering/spaying and vet care all cost money.

Check the classified ads in your newspaper or visit your local shelter. Most shelters give discount coupons for Vet care and shots to offset the adoption fees.

You best bet is your local animal shelter. They are not free, but they are more inexpensive than pet shops or private sellers and they're already fixed, etc. Here's the info:

Humane Society Of Fulton Co
(309) 647-5077
700 E Oak St
Canton, IL

Go on www/petfinders.com there are tons of 5.00-10.00 kittens on there, it is not safe to advertise free pets. I am sure you will find the right kitty for you. I don't support the Humane Society because they put many pets down and I don't think that is humane at all. Petfinders is great!
