It depends what has gone wrong with your W2K installation. If the partition has been damaged, booting with the XP CD will cause it to require partitioning the drive and formatting it before installing. If you went ahead, you will lose all your old data. If the partition is intact, it may ask if you want to format the drive - don't. Just perform an upgrade. Normally, the existing data files will be intact. Your PC will then be running XP, hopefully.

no it wont work but you can try an upgrade to Windows XP without formating your Hard Disk that way you wont loose your old files
