I have been researching Atlanta and I would really like to relocate from TX b/c I never lived any where else. I am a recent college grad and I want to relocate but I have read about such crime in the city. I know all large cities have crime. Is ATL that bad? There are ways around it right?

Atlanta is a perfectly safe place. First of all, it is not even in the top 10 most dangerous cities. People make it out like it is a death trap, but Kansas City, Memphis, Birmingham, Richmond and a lot of other cities that may not be thought of as dangerous were ranked worse. And that is just for the city of Altanta. None of the suburbs are even mentioned as being dangerous. I am not sure why everyone thinks it is so bad. I lived in the suburbs most of my life, and downtown 5 years. I never had any problems except a stolen bike once. All in all it is not so bad. And if you live on the north side (Cobb County, Alpharetta, Sandy Springs, Dunwoody, all of Gwinnett County) you will not face any problems at all. Do not let people put you off. A bigger problem honestly would be living up north and commuting. Traffic stinks for commuters. Work close to where you live is my recomendation, even if that means living in the city. Midtown is a lot of fun, perfectly safe, and getting more upscale by the day.

Well in Atlanta just like anyother city. You have an area riddled with crime and other areas that are filled with good people. Atlanta is a great city, make sure you get a crime report when you get the new place.

Atlanta used to be one of the worst cities when it came to crime rates however the city its cleaned up considerably over the years. I love Atlanta and would never want to live anywhere else.

I lived in Atlanta since I was a little kid and were I live is now considered a very bad spot.To much gang violence,to much rap,and to many drugs. It's super easy to spot the people that make it the way it is,but other than that Atlanta is so fun there is so much to do some times I think I'll never move, it just depends where you live.I blame the way "certain people" act because of rap music.(Just email me back if you want to know good places from bad)

Overall Atlanta is a safe place I mean just like anywhere else there are bad sides but if you dont live in a bad area the crime is normal if you go to a neighborhood and you just feel unsafe driving trough it...well you know thats not the place for u...the southwest area...Fairburn....and the North west area are both nice places

Atlanta is relatively good as a residential place, for relocation: no great harm in keeping it in your options!
