A person who admits to not living up to their own standards really can't be considered a hypocrite, especially if they are trying. Actually, just yelling "hypocrite" and not seeing their own shortcomings (I assume someone defines what those shortcomings are), really isn't a hypocrite either. A hypocrite would be someone who reports an answer for spam and then spams themselves or holds others to standards that they themselves ignore.

The difference is that the person who yells hypocrite is in denial. The other person admits they have shortcomings and at least that's an Acknowledgement that they need to do better. Aperson who fails to see their own shortcomings will never better themselves.

The bigger hypocrite is the person who tells everybody what to do and how to do it and then they do the opposite of what they told you to do. So the bigger hypocrite is the person who yells out hypocrite but doesn't see their own shortcomings. Peace!!!!!!!!

Your are not a hypocrite if you fail to live up to your own standards. You're an overachiever who set the bar too high. If you demand those standards of others, then you are a hypocrite.

The second person. A hypocrite is one whose deeds and words are countrary to the image he/she wishes to portray. And that goes for all religions, lifestyles, codes and creeds.

If I sit around telling everyone else how they should think/feel and don't actually do these things myself then I am a hypocrite. Period.

I think the person who yells hypocrite...We are sinful by nature, no one is perfect. We have to try to live up to our ideals of perfect. Sin is going to happen, that is why we can repent and still live on.

A hypocrite is the one that says "do as I say, but don't do as I do".

Check these lyrics from the Genesis song "Jesus He Knows Me":

They describe hypocrisy in religion.

The one who fails to live up to her/his own standards, and is okay with that ("We're not perfect...just saved"), but still insists that everyone else live up to their standards.
