Caffeine dilates your vessels and can relieve some headaches caused by constriction of the vessels. Conversely, if you are "hooked" on caffeine and your body is used to having it, if you don't have it for a period of time you may get a withdrawal type headache.

A girl I worked with used to get horrible migraines a lot. She finally talked to her doctor about it and was put on a caffeine free diet for 6 weeks. No soda's, no chocolate, no tea, coffee, no pain relievers with caffeine, etc. She was a very petite 26 yr. old who ate chocolate all the time as well as drank coffee by the pot, & tons of soda. The diet was really hard for her but she stayed on it and after 6 weeks she was allowed to start re-introducing caffeine in her diet a small bit at a time. She quickly found out that caffeine triggered her migraines! She now has a cup of coffee once a day, or if there is a special event (like a party) she can have a bit of chocolate....but she is very carefull and pain-free. She says it is worth the effort to be pain-free for the first time in years. It also makes her feel good to know that she can control it, instead of it controlling her!
Having said that, it is not the same for everyone. I suffered from migrains that were triggered by stress. When I have a migraine, I do stay away from caffeine because it does seem to make the migrains worse for me. And I know others that run for the caffeine when they have migrains or headaches. So I guess it is dependant on your own body chemistry. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful! Good luck.

Both is correct.
If you take pain medication with caffeine it makes the pain medication work more effectivly. Several migraine as well as perscription pain relievers have caffeine in them already.
For someone that is sensative to caffeine having too much can cause a headache. Also, as a withdrawl symptom, those people that have a regular schedule of caffeine intake can have a headache when stoping or cutting back alot on the intake.

Its both. If you are a addict to caffiene and haven't had any for a while..then yes you get headaches..bad ones. Its also a cure...whenever I get headaches due to stress I would take a couple of excedrin with Diet Coke and my headache is gone within 20-30 mins, The caffeine helps the blood flow faster so the meds kick in faster.

Sweat it out. A half hour in the steam room and your head ache will be all gone. Possitive thinking. Tell yourself that you are not having a head ache and it will go away.
