The word "soulmate" in relationships has been made pretty confusing by fables and romantic novels. Yes, we indeed have soulmates on earth... the one made exclusively for the other. But, we don't "find" soulmates, we eventually "become" soulmates to one another.
Love does happen on the first sight, but you shouldn't expect to find a soulmate with one glance. You have to grow in a relationship, build years of understanding. Sometimes, you may even have to sacrifice some of your wishes, compromise with your dreams. Thus, when you know for real that you have "built" a steady and smooth relationship with your partner for many many years and that nothing can make you apart... times you have passed are full of moments you both love to cherish forever... then... you will eventually realize... that you were destined to be togther, you were born soulmates. I did not say explicitly mention how much time it will take for you to realize that, because, in fact, many people spend their whole lifetime, trying to build such relationships. The lucky ones are those, who get to build the relationships early... and, like fables,... "live happily ever after". Yes, there are many people like that too who truly found their soulmates, by becoming soulmates with years of love and friendship.
So, my suggestion to you is... do not wait for someone special to come into your life. Rather, start exploring, and find the one to whom you can be his/her special one. See how it goes. If it's not working, take an early decision, and move on. Trial and error is the only way here. So, best of luck in finding your 'soulmate'.

I have had many broken steps in my journey trying to find my soul mate. I was abused for 12 years from my first marriage and got remarried about a year and a half later not a good relationship either. I found a man that I had thought was my soul mate, he was my best friend and I put all my trust in this man, I knew he would never hurt me and he never did. He and I were together for 8 years never married we had more of a friendship than a romantic relationship. I ended it, I needed more in a relationship. He is still a good friend. He understood and knew what I was going through before I did.
One day at work I had a very strong and I mean strong feeling to put an ad up in yahoo personals. I went out a few times and there were no real sparks. I had seen this one and had passed him by a few times but one day I thought what the heck. I contacted him and we had talked for a few weeks before meeting. He had prayed for someone like me that had bad relationships and someone special that he could give his love to. We met and it wasn't love at first sight. We walked around the park and he put his arms around me holding me and I knew that I had found my home. I believe that all of the relationships that we go through prepare us for the one who is meant for us. It is a learning process, if one of your relationships end take a deep look at it and see what could have been done differently.
Just be patient your mate will come.

Of course you will. There's always a soul mate for everyone. Someone you can't stop thinking about, someone who makes you feel nervous and the most important thing: someone who loves you a lot and thinks that you're the most important thing in the world. Someone who says that loves you and really means it! Just remember that nobody is perfect. When we love we have to love everything about the person not just the body but also what that person is inside. The good and the bad things... Don't worry... You will find that person when you less expect!!

You will find your true soul mate but it won't come because you found a person with 'soul mate' stamped on their forehead. You will love someone, commit to be with them, have your ups and downs with them but from time to time you will remember why you married them and they will suddenly reveal themselves to you as your soul mate. You can't plan when that will be.
Or - yeah, you can walk alone all your life.
It's up to you.

well hopefully, i'm a romantic, so fingers crossed.LOL. i dont think you'll walk the earth alone somebody will probably be walking think they're walking alone too an d you'll fin each other or sometihng like that.

I think all of us have asked this question at one point in our lives.The best answer is that its up to fate and our own courage to be open to that love should it knock on our door.I honestly believe that if you open your heart and mind to love that it will find you.You will know when you find it if it is right.Love is never easy but always rewarding.It takes effort and courage.First and foremost you have to love yourself before anyone else can.
