My fiance’s grandmother slipped and fell recently and broke her hip. She had an operation and the medicine they gave her made her a pretty foggy. She is in a rehab facility now and doing somewhat better but not sure if or when she will walk again. I would like to send her a letter stating that I am sorry to hear of her accident and to keep her spirits up, and that I would like to visit her soon, etc… I’ve never really had to write a get well letter though and am kind of at a loss for putting it exactly into words. Any suggestions? They’re greatly appreciated.

What you wrote in your question, will be fine for your letter! Just because she's old doesn't change what you need to say.. those thoughts were just fine! But do make sure you follow through with the visit.. she's probably very lonely right now.

Buy a really cute but funny card! Make her laugh and then write a little personally note inside! Send it with flowers!

Just be yourself, she will appreciate that more than anything! You might say that she is in your thoughts, and you are wishing her well.

Tell her that as time goes on, she is rapidly reaching her limit and should try and accomplish things before she is too old or dies. It will make her laugh- guaranteed.
