OK, here goes:
I have no way of knowing what's on your mind, that is, what you're asking or why you ask, without your giving me any relevant details or context, or expanding on your question.
Looking at a brain scan (or whatever they call it when they look at brain activity while people do this or that) would not in any way help me understand what you're asking, or what you're thinking.
In other words, it's perfectly sensible -- often MORE sensible -- to talk about mind without talking about the brain.
It depends on what you're talking about and the purpose -- it's always about the purpose.
It's perfectly reasonable to talk in terms of beliefs, assumptions, how past experiences are understood, what was going on in someone's mind, without bringing the brain into it.
Short answer: Yes, we do it all the time.
What, really, are you asking, and why?
