I heard of the CHI breaking and not being worth the money, and then I have heard that it is the best buy ever. Any thoughts?

Chi's are good but every salon I have worked in has always had a lot of returns of them when they break. If you keep your receipt it shouldn't be a problem. I was told by an educator from the Farouk company that makes them that as long as you don't wind the cord around the iron it should last a long time.
The Paul Mitchell black and green one is just as good in my opinion. Hai and Bio Ionic are equally good too.

CHI is by far the best, but you do need the professional ones.

The flat iron I have works great it's by ION and the temp reaches 450. A buddy of mine just got the same one for her daughter and she loves it. Leaves your hair nice and silky and doesnt burn your hair. I had tried others but I think because the temp did not exceed 400 on the others it just wasnt right for my hair.

Depends on your type of hair...go to a beauty supply store such as Sallys and ask what they recommend. I personally could not live with out my curl master. They make flat irons and curling irons!

I love my CHI - had it for 4 years, no problems whatsoever. However, I will tell that they make professional and consumer versions. Ask you hairstylist to get you a professional one.

I have a CHI and I've had it for a couple years and it hasn't breaken off my hair yet. It depends on what type of hair you have.

I'm not really sure what the "CHI" is, but I love my Conair one. It's got 2 settings, warm and hot. I've never had any issues w/mine.
