I'm not putting anyone down, everyone has different beliefs. BUT I'm curious as to why anyone would WANT to believe that they came from an animal whose favorite past-time is flinging their own crap, as opposed to believing that they were created in the image of a perfect, all-powerful, omnipotent being... I'd like to hear everyone's thoughts on this, and even smarta$$ answers are welcome... Thanks.

First of all,....that was funny!

Second, I agree. You can just look at science itself, how they mimick birds and insects to see how they were 'created' to make a model plane or whatnot. The sky, ocean, stars in the heavens. They all speak of God's wonderful qualities and show that they were created by an awesome being!

The reason people don't want to believe in God (which is what you were describing), is because they don't want to be accountable for the decisions and actions they choose throughout the course of their lives. Most spiritual thought alludes to a day or time when "what goes around comes around." Whether you are Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Buddhist or Hindu, This is a prevalant theme and the naysayers simply cannot handle it nor do they want to. They will always site the evil things done by people in the name of God but rarely, if ever, highlight many of the wonderful things done because of one's spiritual beliefs. I say that it must be a very empty and sad feeling to live one's life with no hope for something beyond our physical deaths. Is the life of people like Hitler, Stalin and other evil destroyers to go without some kind of punishment? That is a concept that is beyond comprehension! Or how about a Mother Theresa, or the guy who risks his life to save someone else, are they not to be rewarded in the afterlife? Even if there was nothing beyond death, would it not be better to live a full and happy spiritual life than to live a narcissitic, grumpy and angry one? One only need to take a good, honest look at the evidence and it will show that this world, the whole of it, it too perfectly put together to have been created by a freak accident. God is knocking folks, will you answer?

God created the universe and in doing so he created DNA and evolution. This could have been Gods method of creation and to deny this is to try to limit God. Evolution is a proven fact and the Bible supports it as well. "Let the earth bring forth the creature of the sea." The soul is the part of man that is in Gods image, not the body or even the mind. I wish humans were so good that the worst thing they did was to fling crap at each other.

Evolution created God/s reason whether God/s are genuine they nevertheless greater out of a less complicated sort of nature. each and every thing that exists needless to say is going from effortless to complicated. that's in no way any opposite direction around. Even issues that are created artificially commence effortless and then grow to be complicated. many years in the past a working laptop or workstation grow to be a hassle-free calculator the size of a construction. Now I extremely have a gadget with a ludicrous volume of means that suits in my hand. A organic occasion is count started out as hassle-free capability then grew to grow to be hydrogen which then shaped each and each of diverse factors there are as we talk. i ought to maintain going yet truthfully the factor is there is not any reason there won't be able to be God/s yet whether there are, God/s are no longer explanation why. the main hassle-free sort of life that each and every thing greater out of is why.

Uhh....you need to do a little research. Hint: the fossil record supports the evolutionary theory that modern humans share common ancestory with other early bipedal hominids. That should give you a start. On the other hand, let's not forget the OTHER theories that are out there as well...that we were seeded here on Earth from an advanced alien culture. Read ANYthing by Zecharia Sitchin & the Annunaki...KEEP AN OPEN MIND...no one REALLY KNOWS the answers anyway!

Firstly do a little more research on evolution and then come back and tell me that we came from crap flinging animals.

I would rather believe that I came from a different type of mammal...which by the way there is scientific proof backing it, than to believe what a 2000 year old book say...and actually says that we're inbred.

So i guess according to your theory, i guess i'd rather be a crap slinging monkey over inbred.

It's not a matter of 'want.'

I only 'want' to believe whats proven to be true, as it is with anything else.

Given the 'choice' - of course I'd opt for the grandiose romantic myth of the omnipotent being sculpting man in all his finery.

But, based on the obvious facts before me, I see way too many other creatures with heads, spinal columns, ribcages, two arms, two legs, and all of their internal organs in the same place as mine. I see they all have brains in their skulls, are partial to mating, driven to reproduce, are motivated by food, and they all breathe air.

This evidence is balanced by another group of living beings that do not have spinal columns or similar internal organs. They reproduce differently and have more legs. Looking at insects and such forces you to realize that there are many ways to adapt and survive, and the mammalian way (as described above) is simply one of them, and we (as humans) are merely an evolved version of the proven blueprint that's been around for a long, long time.

It seems pretty obvious. But, there are obviously plenty who really feel they are the result of a magic wand rather than millions of generations of fine-tuning.

"Want" has nothing to do with it.

I believe God did create us--slowly. Read through the seven eras of creation as described in the Creation Poem (Genesis 1). Compare with the order of evolution as deduced by scientists.

Humble origins don't worry me. The Bible itself says that man is made of dust and has the same level of life as animals. The amazing thing is that Jesus deliberately and for our sakes came and took on human life and the human condition with all of tragedy as well as its--er--less than polite functions. (Did you know we swallow our own snot continually, and that amniotic fluid is the baby's urine, which it drinks and breathes whilst in the womb?)

Well, what I never understood was why it has to be "God or evolution", and why we can't consider the possibility that god coordinated evolution.

I also don't believe that the first man was made from a pile of mud. So I guess it depends which you like less: descending from animals that fling poo, or being made from mud??

For starters, your "perfect, alll-powerful, omnipotent being" doesnt exist. So, I wasnt "Created" in his image at all. God is created in the image of man, which is why he has all of these human attributes, is called the Father, sent his Son, blah blah blah.

Id rather have a living relative than to beleive that I was created from a non-existent entity that fashioned me out of dirt and blew into my nose to give me life. Thats just nuckin futs.

Have you ever thought how amazing and exciting and awe-inspiring it is that atoms and molecules can come together and make something as complex and interesting as human beings? The fact that we're the product of an unthinking process doesn't make us less, it makes matter more *
