Yes.
Religion is not Faith in God. Religion is something that you practice to satisfy man. Man or should I say persons. For centuries people have set up (some with excellent intentions to begin with) others with original power or greed in mind different types of religions.
I may be very religious in some fundamental beliefs or practices but that doesn't mean that I necessarily have faith in the bible as to what it says or implementing these beliefs in my life.
Sorry for rambling. As for family, I believe that the only thing that should be allowed to interfere in family matters is if there is a moral question as to how it relates to the Word of God.
If a family member has his or her beliefs set dead against what you believe, then let your faith conscience guide you. Always respect the other person and NEVER argue. Try to show in the Bible why you believe what you do. Let your every day walk of faith shine brighter then your words.

They certainly are. When you go to church, with your family or whatever day of the week, the smaller children go off to a separate room, then you all sit in one large room, and you listen and pray. Religion is important to some, and this makes sense to those people.
Is it more important to take that 1 or 2 hour period to focus on your family, children and extended relatives? Bonding, teaching, playing and discovery of new things? I thin when you have children in your household, family is always more important.

I am not sure if I am following you. I think a relationship with God is more important than religion. I think standing up for what you believe is true is more important than family, but isn't there some way to compromise and stand for what you believe and stand up or support your family too? Give more details about what is up so we can answer better!

Yes, but not more important than spirituality. I think it's best to be a good example through your actions and spiritual guidance to be able to be a great role model for the family. A person who can't teach their family proper morals and other teachings is capable of leading their family astray.

OK so I don't want to be bashed for my opinion, but, I believe The Bible does say don't have ANY other god's before Him. Often our family is our priority-guilty myself, but my problem is because I am scared to trust in Him enough to allow Him to care for my problem. I want The Lord to be most important, but I feel like I need to take care of this debt to better my families future-thus an embarrassing reason I fail to tithe properly.

Depends on how religious you are.
Though since I don't have a high view on religion, I'd lean to family matters being more important, but again I'm biased.

Most religions are family based. They need not be incompatible. Indeed, being religious can help keep the family together. If there is a clash though, the depth of your convictions will decide either way.

As stated, the question leaves one wondering the use of the word "religion" --- for if you're talking about the man made formal--- organized thing----that--- is somewhat negotiable---but if you're talking the At Heart Faith and Belief Base in God--- there is nothing---nothing---that should preempt this relationship--- nothing !!
