The devil is a spirit, but most of his "work" is done through demons (his army). The demons are contrary to the nature of and the will of God.
He is the oposite of God. If God is love..the devil is hate.
He is called wicked, which stems from the word wicker...or twisted. The bible calls him a "burned branch", the father of lies, murderer, The serpent (Genesis 3:4,14; 2 Corinthians 11:3)
The spirit that works in all disobedient people (Ephesians 2:2)
The Tempter (Matthew 4:3; 1 Thessalonians 3:5)
The god of this world (2 Corinthians 4:4)
Unclean spirit (Matthew 12:43)
The wicked one (Matthew 13:19)
He is often described as a serpent or dragon.
These are discriptions of his nature. As far as his appearance goes, it seems he can transform himself.
2 Corinthians 11:14
And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

The Thorny Devil (Moloch horridus) is also known as the Thorny Dragon, Thorny Lizard, or the Moloch. It is the sole species of genus Moloch.
The thorny devil grows up to ca. 20 cm in length, which is approximately 8 inches, coloured in camouflaging shades of desert browns and tans (colours changing from pale when warm, to darker colours when cold), and is entirely covered with conical spines (mostly uncalcified). It also features a spiny "false-head" on the back of the neck, which predators might eat instead of the real head of the thorny devil. Females are larger than males.
Hope that helps some.

he is a spirit being that hates all things good and hates all people good or bad people
he is not all powerful or all knowing or everywhere at once (like God) but he can invade your mind and learn about you and know all about you
he can attack you through your thoughts and influence you to do things that will benefit him and be anti-God
the devil is lucifer but there are demons that also do his work each have different strengths and abilities and more then one can influence you at one time
he knows God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit and he knows how it will all turn out for him in the end b/c he knows the Bible to be true and he wants to take as many of Gods children with him as he can
we have the power to defeat him by standing firm in the faith with the help of God and the spiritual weapons that we have - the Holy Bible - the Word of God will make the devil leave - know your Bible and use the verses as weapons
check out Ephesians 6:10-20 and use the armor of God to be victorious

The Devil, or Satan, or Lucifer is created by man alone. He does not exist in reality. He is a imagined as the king of fear, and only fear feeds his source of power. There is no real personality called Satan.
We can only continue to have the Devil around, as long as people feed the fear that the church fathers created to control us with. Quit the idea of him being around, and he will cease to BE!

the devil or lucifer was a super archangel and one of God's favorites. God allowed lucifer to be in charge of all of the other angels, he was the director of the choir and had the most prettiest voice. he was the prettiest angel that god ever created. he was highest ranking, endowed the most beautiful, knowledge, authority and power. but God gave his angels free will and soon lucifer begin to think that he could be God. So God kicked him and half of the angels out of heaven. where he soon became evil and the way he is today. the devil was once something who is nothing now, but trouble.

The Devil is a powerful spirit creature. He started out as one of God's loyal angels but then decided that the worship of humans that God had just put on earth should go to him instead. He is now, you might say, leader of the opposition to God rule. But not for long.

Satan or the devil and the other demons are fallen angels who have freely refused to serve God and his plan. Their choice against God is definitive. They try to associate man in their revolt against God.

Think of the worst thing you possibly can. No, worse. Worse still. Keep trying. OK, that's good. Now double that.
