Underground Atlanta in downtown is a wonderful shopping/restaurant mecca. That's where the World of Coke is too. If you're interested in anything media, you can also take a tour of the CNN headquarters; all of these are in, or close proximity, to downtown Atlanta. If you're into theme parks, Six Flags Over Georgia is also located nearby, in Austell off of Interstate 20 (I think it's 10 miles or so west of Atlanta.)

I'm going on the assumption that you're a lady, based on your avatar. I'm going to disagree with the others here that mentioned Underground. It's pretty scary, especially if you are by yourself, or even in a small group.
I would suggest going up to Lenox Square mall area. It's a nice area, but can be kinda pricey. There are lots of restaurants and plenty of shopping opportunities.
An Atlanta landmark restaurant is the Varsity. It's located on North Avenue right beside I-75/I-85. It's the local "greasy spoon" hamburger/hot dog place.
For entertainment, you might want to check out some of the stuff at the Fox Theater. They have world-class shows.

yes they are very good steaks but i can get those at Sam's club for $2.49lb instead of $75/Lb
check the menu prices ...outrageous
Nan is my current favorite.
5 star Thai cuisine elegant and they have a strict dress code
this is an amazing place and no where near as expensive
also unique Dante's Down the Hatch amazing
fondue is the specialty
and there is a ship inside a moat and crocodiles

I'd check out Ruths Chris grill, or Mckendricks for dining. Shopping wise you should check out the mall of Georgia, its the biggest mall in the SE. For entertainment you should go to the IMAX movie theater or maybe check out the new aquarium.
