oooh! best present I was given (there were several):

* cocoa and shea butter body lotion with vitamin E oil for stretch marks

* a coupon book redeemable for NAPS while someone came to my home to sit with my sons.

* dinner brought in by appointment from several friends for about a week after birth of sons.

* CD of quiet sleepy music to help sooth baby (and mom) during fussy nights.

* new non-slip bedroom shoes! essential for getting up to check on Junior!

* baby wipe warmer - if it's cold on my hand, it will freeze Junior's hiney!

hope that helps.

I had a beautiful healthy child. Presents seemed redundant giving birth is a time to get out of self not into presents. I mostly appreciated those people who kept telling me I was doing wonderfully as a Mom and that my child appeared to be thriving.

There were those who bought gifts of clothing for me and my child, silver porridgers, and multiple other presents including offers to babysit while I went to get my hair done etc.

However, nothing absolutely nothing meant more than the fact that I had been given this beautiful healthy infant and had the opportunity to grow with it. Gifts seemed absolutely without meaning.

I had two children and have five grandchildren and still feel that way about my family.

SLEEP was the best gift I was given and I dont mean just sleeping but sleeping on my back and being able to breath. The best "gift" though was my son and I have to thank my Dr who every week from the time was was 14 weeks pregnant saw me, put me through ultrasounds stuck me on bedrest placed me in the hosptial and put my mind at ease even when he later admitted he didnt think I'd be able to carry my son as far into my pregnancy as I did.

A massage. I didn't do it for the first one, but I'll do it for the next one. After all that pushing, my neck was killing me.
