His feelings are going to be hurt no matter what. Do it quick and do not draw it out.

That is tough to do. #1 you need to have a sit down talk with him and be totally honest with him and upfront. IT shows that you have respect for him as a person. #2 The sooner the better because if you keep stringing him along it will only make him feel used and worthless. It will also help you from yelling at him. You need to approach it in a very straight forward manner. #3 Tell him his good points that will make some other person feel good to be with him.#4 Tell him exactly why you are breaking it off with him. #5 Listen to his feedback, and answer his questions honestly.
No you can't get out without breaking his heart, however you can at least lessen the force of the impact. Once you are done your discussion, make sure you have somewhere else to be so that it is a clean break and he doesn't keep calling you every minute from the point you walk away. Make sure that you let him know that out of respect for him as a person you feel that you need to end it because you just don't feel right about the relationship anymore. It is a very hard thing to sit there and watch someone's heart break infront of you, but if it is hurting yours to be in this relationship get out.

I am afraid that no matter how you do it he will be hurt. You might try to get him interested in another girl that you think is his type. You might want to be careful doing that though. You might find yourself getting hurt in a way doing that. You can never underestimate the power of jealousy. It can sprout up any time any where even if you think that you would not have any of those type of feelings.

whatever decision you make, and still breaking up with him would really hurt his feelings. just tell him the truth why you decided to break up with him. and maybe say sorry.
