Dog poop as such is not poisonous, but it contains bacteria, ecchinococcus, worms, etc. So yes it is bad for health. I would suggest that you call your doctor at least and ask what sort of tests you can do to your son for ecchinococcus etc, and if you have the rest of the dog poop you could perhaps put it in a container and take it to a microbiology lab to have it analysed, to know what may have been in it. vets often provide this sort of services and may know what diseases can pass to humans too. I would also suggest that he could take antibiotics as a precaution, but this must be done under medical guidance only, especially for a small child.

The worry would be bacteria and worms- and if the dog doesn't have worms (you vet can check the feces) only bacteria. Chances are fair that your childs immune system will protect him. If you would be more confortable check with your Dr. There ARE childeren's worm meds which he may wish to perscribe to be safe.
Recall for thousands of years farm children grew up in the barn with plenty of animal feces exposure....

Any time you think anyone of any age has ingested, inhaled, or absorbed anything that may harm them, you MUST call poison control immediately. If their number is not posted on your phone(s), POST IT NOW.
