Depends on your height, frame, current weight, etc. It just isn't a set number.

Everybody is different. Depending on the amount of exercise and the types of foods consumed will have the greatest impact on loosing weight. I would say a little under 2000. If you eat around 1800 calories you will loose weight. The most important thing is that you do not starve yourself. When you loose weight rapidly, you have a tendency to regain it as rapid. The key is to incorporate life changes so you do not bounce around with your weight. Every one fluctuates a little that is normal, especially in the winter months.

There is a formula for this. Look it up on google.. Depending on your weight now and how much you want to lose. Decrease your caloric intake by roughly 250-500 calories daily. Add some cardio and weight training. Besides.. caloric restriction has been shown to increase longevity in humans.

My mother and father go to a gym where they have a personal trainer. I have a new baby so I can't go, so I get all of the advice that he gives to them.
It depends on your current height, weight, build, etc. It also depends on how much exercise you get. For me, I need to consume around 1300-1500 calories if not working out. But when I work out I need to consume more like around 1800.
However, for my dad who is built quite a bit larger than me, his caloric needs are different.
