I think it can have either impact. It depends on the people in the relationship.

Some people like to have the comfort of having a person who likes all the same things as they do. Whereas others may like the differences in the relationship, and they may see it as a way to learn more about the other.

With my fiancee & I it's great because we have a balance. We have a lot in common so we have a lot we can share, but at the same time there's a lot of differences between us so it keeps the relationship fresh. We're always learning together.

The key is to be open-minded because you never know when your bf-gf's/fiancee's/spouse's difference will become something you have in common.

What better way to bond with a person than to start enjoying something that you may not have considered before?

Usually opposites attracted because then they can learn more about each other but tbh i don't think having lots of things in common is a bad thing.

You can have discussions on things and do lots of things together that you both enjoy.

well if you have so much in common that it's like dating yourself (if that's what we're talking about here) then I'd think it would break it because the relationship would become predictable

It depends. Some make it others break it. Opposites usually make it.

umm. too too much in common might get annoying cause then you wont have any "independent" factor.. like something you like to do that he doesn't.
