Hopefully, there might be a female librarian here to help answer my questions.
(a) Would it be acceptable, or inappropriate, to ask a librarian out?
(b) If it is acceptable, what would be an appropriate and inviting way to ask her out?
My local library has a lot of really attractive librarians. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they get asked out by lots of guys on a daily basis. If that is true, I speculate they probably get tired of it, or worst-case-scenario, totally creeped-out by some.
I don't know any of the librarians personally. Should I ask one out, and if so, how do I do so without coming across like every other guy who has asked before, or seeming creepy?

I'm assuming your local librarians are interested in literature.
Do you have a passion for reading? Obviously, if you do, this will give you a heads up.
Try starting a conversation about a particular novel, author, time period, WHATEVER with one of the librarians and see how it goes from there.
Show her that you are interested in her mind and really make an effort to share her interest in books. Then ask her out to dinner, coffee, a poetry reading, etc. and see what other common interests you share.

(a) Of course it's ok to ask a librarian out. They're people, too.
(b) After establishing a regular patronage at the library, I would approach her when she's not busy with patrons - perhaps when she's putting books away. Just say in a normal voice, "Excuse me. I have a non-library question to ask you. I was wondering if you would like to (whatever & whenever)." However she responds, please, keep your composure.
Some librarians are sexy in a Lisa Loeb kind of way.
Good luck.

Why would it be inappropriate or unacceptable to ask a librarian out? They're not nuns!
I wouldn't recommend asking her out immediately. Maybe spend some time there & try to talk to her a little bit first & show that you're interested in her. I wouldn't dive head first into it, but i'd say it couldn't hurt to try.

it is never appropriate to ask out a librarian.
they take vows of celibacy.
Actually, it is INCREDIBLY inappropriate to ask out someone you don't know personally. How would you react if some stranger - even a good looking one - just walked up to you and asked you out? Pretty creepy.

Sure, ask them out to dinner after they get off work! I've worked in two college libraries and I didn't mine a bit! You'll never get to no someone just seeing them at work.
