it has to be the cat food because that was the only food that it ate.

Yes, on 12/31/06 I had to have my cat euthanized for kidney failure. I was feeding her Iams Adult Chicken & Gravy and Science Diet Feline Savory Cuts Chicken Dinner purchased at Walmart. She quite suddenly developed all of the symptoms listed on the website; increased water intake, lethargy, vomiting, loss of appetite. I checked the website: WWW.menufoods.com/recall/product to find which brand names were included in recall. Dates of Manufacture include 21/3/06 - 3/6/07
The FDA asks that those with sick or dead pets to call FDA state complaint coordinators. A list of State contacts can be found at:
www.fda.gov/opacom/backgrounders/complain.html.
I miss my poor Bitsy. This came on her so suddenly, and my vet had no explanation. Who would have thought to suspect the very food I was encouraging her to eat! Now it makes sense. I am mad as HELL and am going to my local newspaper and an attorney.

I was feeding my cat Special Kitty which is on the list of recalled cat foods and he started getting really sick, I took him to the vet and he has kidney failure. So far the vet bills are well over $500 and Im desperately hoping that this does not kill him. The vet had to switch him to a special diet that is low in protein and the food is costing me a fortune. There has been a number that has been provided if your pet ate any of the recalled food 1-866-463-6738, but I have yet been able to get through as the line is constantly busy. What is going to be done about this?!? My animals are more than just pets to me and losing my pet to a corporations stupid mistake does not fly with me.

My mom and I have been going through hell this past week. My mother is your typical cat lady, very loving and very concerned because we have been feeding our cats one of the foods affected by the recall. We had to euthanize our cat, that has been in our family for over 10 years, due to complications from kidney failure. Now three of our other cats are sick, and our vet just came back in from a spring break vacation, and says she doesn't know what to do for her customers. We are trying to find answers immediately before our other cats start dropping like flies! if there are steps i can take or numbers that i can call, do let me know. This whole thing is just awful.

I would think that the vet will have to determine if it was indeed the food that caused it. Kidney failure is not that uncommon in cats and most of the time, it is not caused by cat food.

Only if you can prove without doubt that the catfood is to blame.
You might be lucky and get a goodwill payment....
