I am 16 years old and a competitive gymnast. I work out 4 days a week, 4 hours each day. I am 5'2 and weigh 113. I am 10 pounds heavier than my teammates who are the same height as me! I need to lose some weight. But I don't know how! How do I track my calories? How do I stay on track? I need a lot of food for energy for my workouts, so how do I lose weight with all that in mind?
Thank you!

For the type of hard core workouts that you do, try not to limit yourself to much. who is really concerned about this? Is it your coach, teammates, or you? You have got to remember that muscle weighs so much more then fat. I fyou are more muscular then your teammates this would be a perfect explination for the few extra pounds. And you don't want to lose that muscle. A very good example of this is my sister and myself. SHe weighs 20 lbs less then I do, However, I'm a size 6 and she is a size 10/12. I workout 1.5 hours 6 days a week. She does nothing!!! I wouldn't worry to much about it. You are young and as long as the fuel you put into your body is healthy, you are on the right track!!!

Don't you dare try to lose weight. You are at a healthy weight and are probably very muscular, remember muscle weighs more than fat. The girls that could weigh less may be due to body structure, bone structure, etc... 113lbs. is very healthy and is great for your sport. Don't think you are too heavy, if others are trying to make you feel so, tell you coaches and parents - those girls are trying to be competitive in an unhealthy way. Don't lead to a lifetime of horrible bad habits that will make you feel bad of yourself, there is simply no reason for you to feel bad, you lead a healthy lifestyle.

since you work out 4 days a week for 4 hours I would say that your extra weight is not fat but muscle. there is not much you can do to lose this weight besides maybe change your work out routine. you need to build more lean muscle instead of bulky muscle so try doing more reps at lower resistance and less activities that require few reps at high resistance. Also try to eat less protien since that builds muscle. stick to vegetables and fruits, they'll give you energy with out adding bulk.

I wouldn't lose that weight. You shouldn't. That is not fat weight, that is muscle weight and is probably to your advantage when competing. You are at a very healthy weight, don't change a thing!

Eat less. It worked for Auschwitz survivors.
