My daughter has to wear socks when she puts her shoes on. For one her feet get irritated if she doesn't, and two, her feet don't stay warm.

I see a lot of kids wearing sneakers without socks in the Winter time of all ages (AGes between 5 and 12) and I don't think it is a big problem at all. I seen a kid at a supper club last year about 10 years of age, and he was standing near the televison set, which was in the bar area, and it was about 30'F, and he was wearing shorts, and he was not wearing any socks in his sneakers. I was not wearing any socks that day myself, and my feet never get cold. As a matter a fact I have a pair of sneakers I wear in the Winter time that I always wear without socks, which are the Puma Baskets, and they do keep my feet nice and warm in the Winter Time, and they even keep my feet dry. I could walk over a big snow bank, and my feet would still be warm and dry. I have been wearing my sneakers without socks year round, for the past 23 years now. My feet are so accustomed to the cold the cold air don't even bother my feet, and my feet never had a blister all these years I have been wearing my sneakers without socks.
There are certain sneakers that are made to be worn without socks. Maybe sneakers are much more comfortable to wear without socks. More sneakers these days are worn without socks. I see people wear their sneakers without socks more often then wearing socks. There is nothing wrong with wearing sneakers without socks, and since your son wore his sneakers without socks most of the Winter, I think by now, his feet are used to the cold. IF he does not have any blisters on his feet, and they are not cold, I wouldn't worry about it. THe only problem you may have is his feet becoming stinky, and all you need to do for that is use some foot odor spray, and spray the inside the sneakers after he takes them off his feet before he goes to bed. You can also buy another pair or 2 more pairs of sneakers so he can rotate his sneakers so the sneakers he wore today without socks can air out completely (usually 24 to 48 hours) before he puts them back on his feet. Try to buy New Balance Sneakers, These sneakers has removeable insoles so if they become smelly, you can toss them in the washer (Do not use the dryer for the insoles) and let them air dry, and once they are completely dry, you can put the insoles back inside the sneaker.
If I ever have kids, and my son decides not to wear socks, I would allow him to put his sneakers on without socks. I will make sure his feet are clean and not stinky. ANd IF I ever take him to a indoor fun park such as Chucky Cheese, or at McDonald's, which socks are required, then I will buy a pair at the counter and he can wear them in the park, and he can take them off as soon as he is done playing in the park. I will also buy him sneakers that can be worn without socks very comfortably.

My son doesnt wear socks in his shoes whether its his boots or tennies.
Actually I dont myself. I do use foot powders to eliminate odors and buy insoles for my shoes to kill bacteria and smell.
My feet get too warm with socks on and I end up with athletes foot. For those of whom would say its because I dont wear socks in those shoes I will disagree due to fact I always had to wear socks as a kid and I had athletes foot constantly. when i got older I quit wearing sock and no more athletes foot.
Socks are uncomfortable to alot of people. Unless there is something that states socks must be worn at all times let them choose. Besides its their feet.

I personally find not wearing socks to be unhygienic, but to each their own.
If you don't want your kids to wear socks, or they don't want to do so, then fine. However, if you tell your kids to wear socks and they argue with you on the matter then I think you need to take a second look at your parenting.

Well my daughter is 7 months old and i always but socks on her with her shoes. For allot of kids that is comfortable, but without socks it makes their shoes smell cuz when their feet sweat there is nothing there to absorb it so it goes into the shoes and it just smells worse than usual, my lil brother did this and my mom had to throw away his shoes cuz they smelled so bad, she made him wear socks ever since then.

No i don't or wouldn't let them wear shoes with no socks especially in the winter. Have you heard of sickness. Do you want to spend five minutes and have kids put socks on or deal with sick kids.

most places like that REQUIRE children to wear socks. If it's their policy, then you need to make them wear socks.

my daughter tries to get away with wearing no socks with her sneakers in the wintertime, but i do not allow it. I don;t feel like having to buy a new pair of shoes every month, if she didn't wear socks they would be full of nasty bacteria and full of disgusting vomit inducing smells.
