I am trying to get the word out to everyone with pets. To find out if your pet's brand of food is involved, visit the website http://www.menufoods.com/recall/index.html There is a toll-free number you can call too (but at this time, I could not get through, just a busy signal!) The number is 1-866-895-2708 The affected pet's symptoms can include vomiting, lethargy (tiredness) and excessive thirst..**but this isn't always the case!!** one girl I read about said her dog just drank more water but showed no other signs until it was too late! Her dog died. So I strongly urge you to check the website above and if the product you use is listed go straight to the vet! Don't waste time trying to contact them as the lines are jammed. Early intervention from a vet could save the animals life. Good Luckl!!!

It may be "all over the place" but I just called a friend to ask her if she'd heard about the recall (she has 5 dogs and two cats!!) She HAD NOT heard! She also has 3 young kids and doesn't watch much tv or listen to the radio so believe me when I say that there are still LOTS of people who don't know.

Yep, news broke on Friday night even though the recall website didn't list any specific brands until Saturday. I emailed everyone I know with pets to warn them and one called to thank me. Her dogs food was on the list.

I know it's been said a million times on this board, but not everyone comes to the pet area of the forums. New questions are listed on the main page and bumped down as new questions come from all over Yahoo Answers. If it catches someone's eye who didn't know about it before, then let it be posted a million times more.

I became concerned when the wet food recal occurred. No problem, threw out all wet food, even though it didn;t match the serial numbers. I would just do dry food. Then the other day came the dry food recall. Who knows how far this will go. I threw out all treats and snacks, in addition to the dry food. I made my own. It is pretty easy and not too expensive. In fact an old country vet used to have us feed this to any pet who was sick. I adapted it for cat food.. Additionally, I am trying to come up with an equivallient for dry food that is homemade. Dogs: Equal amounts of ground beef( beef, chicken, sauteed in water and drained) and brown rice, both cooked. Add in EVOO. For cats : Equal amounts of Tuna and brown rice w/ EVOO/ Squish into canned type food. Need to look into adding veggies. Thinking about Baby Food.

I just talked to my best friend who has 4 dogs and she had not heard about it. I just sent an email to all my friends who have dogs with the link to that website.

Thanks, I have two dogs and they eat a brand on that list. I'm glad I did not go and buy any today. I will wait a couple of weeks now.
