I am going away soon and I would like to bring some portable straighteners as there will not be a mains plug, so can anyone recommend any actually decent portable straighteners at a low-ish price? All of the ones i've searched for had to be put into a charging stand which needs a mains supply itself to actually charge the straighteners!

There are portable ones that use something called a ThermaCell which is a little disposable butane cartridge. They last for about 8 hours of use each and you can take a few with you depending on how long you are going to be away.
