I received an e-mail stating that I had won $500,000 in a lottery you are running for customers. I was supposed to submit a lot of personal information to an address in the UK. Is this legit?

Yahoo does not run a lottery. This is a scam to get
1) Money
2) Personal information
3) Credit information
4) Some combination of the above

Just avoid it.

Yahoo does not run any lotteries. All e-mails of that type are a scam. The perpetrators ask for your bank information so they can transfer all your money out of your account and into theirs.

common sense: you can't win a contest that you didn't enter. trust your common sense and don't give out any personal information.
