But yesterday was the worst. I was only gone a couple of hours. Came home my neighbor told me he could hear her howling at his house. So when I went in the house I couldn't believe it. She was so horse I could tell she had been howling for a long time. And the things she did. She got on my son's bed riped the curtians destoryed the miniblind. dug up the frame on the window. to the point it going to have to be replaced. Plus at the back door she tore up the bottome of the door and the door frame. Any ideas at what could be going on. No changes in the home. Help.

Most Beagle's are very social and don't like being left alone, even for short periods of time. They get very lonely. We have to keep ours in a cage so she won't destroy the house. This probably wouldn't make her want to cry any less but it'd save some of your furniture. I'm not sure what could have set it off if she wasn't like that before though. But she's likely lonely and acting out because of it.

I have a pitbull... he used to do the same thing. He was 1 1/2 years old. it was just all of a sudden, like your beagle he just started doing it one day. i think it was sepperation anxiety.. it would kill me to leave him alone... we have him kennel trained so luckily he didnt tear anything up. He would cry until he was hoarse also. He just hates being left alone. When he realized just because mommy or daddy is leaving doesnt mean we arent coming back. We would praise him alot when we got home so it would calm his nerves. He has stopped it now, as the person that works at the animal hospital said.. it might just be a spell she's going through... thats what it was for my dog.. Good luck

Keep in mind that Alley is still in her puppyhood (until about two years' old) and has begun to bond with your family. I have had a very good experience with taking my young dog to dog daycare for at least a half day twice a week. She is constantly kept busy and has learned to socialize with other dogs this way. When she comes home she is much better behaved and the destructive behavior has disappeared.

sounds like separation anxiety - and 8 months is roughly equivalent to adolescence in a dog; she's getting to be a "teen" in terms of her development.

make sure that when you are home, you're paying attention to her, but always maintain discipline.

when you're leaving her alone, if she's not being trustworthy, confine her to one room (water and food available if you'll be away several hours) or put her in a kennel, as long as it's big enough for her to stand/turn around/stretch out in.

it might be a phase, but do make sure that she has someone around more often than not; beagles are usually energetic dogs and need lots of interaction.

i think for now she needs to be put in a crate. i know this might sound mean, but this something you have to do. my dog does the same thing and using the crate helps him from destroying things. as for the barking i think after a while he'll get used to u being home.
